The Castle Trachselwald

As Stacie and I are doing research in preparation for our trip to Switzerland next month, we came across this website about the Trachselwald Castle.   During the days of the Reformation in Switzerland,  some of the many Anabaptist leaders who were imprisoned were imprisoned here at Trachselwald.  One of the primary goals of imprisoning Ababaptist leaders was the hope of bringing greater unity to the fairly young state church that was started by Zwingli, the Reformed Church in Switzerland.   Five hundred years later, Trachselwald stands as a symbol of strength and encouragement to the church of today: a place where a small part of the ‘great cloud of witnesses’  suffered for Christ.

Below are some videos and updates about what is happening at Trachselwald  these days.

In this first video, Update #2,  Pastor Paul Veraguth of the Reformed Church of the Canton of Bern, gives a quick tour of the Trachselwald gardens and then encourages the Church of today to consider the ‘great cloud of witnesses’, and how we can apply the lessons of their lives to our lives today.

  2. Hi,

I would like to visit the Trachselwald Castle on November 1 or 2, 2014. Can you tell me the open hours of this castle on Saturday and Sunday? Do you have a local phone number that I can call to get more information about how to get there to visit this castle? Thank you.
