Sam & Polly’s story is featured in Episode III of Breaking the Silence.
Sam and Polly Girod came from two different Amish communities: Sam from the Swiss Amish in southern Indiana, and Polly from the Old Order Amish in Missouri. Both of them had good Amish childhoods, but once they reached adulthood began to struggle. Among other problems, neither of them was able to get married.
In 2012 they both left their families and Amish community- Sam went to Ohio and Polly went to distant non-Amish relatives in Missouri. Before the year ended, they met and got married!
