Toward the beginning of Breaking the Silence I explain that for 450 years the Grabers were Amish, but in 1994 my father left, then I ask the question, “What is the heritage that I’m passing on to my son?” In order to answer that question I’ve been going back to the places where the Graber family story happened. Several weeks ago Stacie and I spent a week in the area in Northwest Montana where I grew up. We interviewed five people and filmed me speaking at some key locations. I’ve included some photos of the trip:
On our way up we drove through the Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
Here I am standing in front of the house where we lived at the time we left the Amish.
Here I am in the church where Dad and I were baptized. Just being back in this building was an awesome experience for me, God has done so many things in my life since that June evening in 1995 that I surrendered my life to the Lord for ministry. So many memories and a good setting for me to share some thoughts for the documentary.
We will try to keep you posted on the exciting days ahead as we move forward with filming.
I “know” your dad through the Amish & Beyond group plus he was kind enough to contribute to my ex-Amish blog, Beyond Buggies and Bonnets. Thanks for this documentary – what an exciting project. Many blessings in your research, writing, filming, and promotion!
